Fall 2010 Season Results
Saturday produced some excitement as two of our players made holes-in-one. Brooks Brown (Salina, KS), Boys 12-13, and Ethan Packel (Leawood, KS), Boys 10-11, both made a hole-in-one on the thirteenth hole at St Joseph Country Club. They were rewarded with a sleeve of their favorite golf balls and allowed to keep Saturday's scorecard as a souvenir. Way to go Brooks and Ethan, but I don't remember receiving a drink from either of you!!! Photos of both can be seen below.
Our high school boys play together in a combined 14-18 age division which included 34 players. There is a combined 14-18 trophy as well as trophies for their respective age divisions - Boys 14-15 and Boys 16-18. Joseph Winslow (Overland Park, KS) was our overall winner with a 2-day score of 143.
First place for the Boys 16-18 age division was determined by a 3-hole playoff between Joseph Winslow (Overland Park, KS) and Ryan Zech (Kearney, MO). Joseph's birdie on the third hole proved to be the winner. Great match, guys!! Ryan claimed the second place trophy which also placed him in second place as the overall champion. Third place went to Jackson Foth (Lake Quivira, KS) who also won Lake Quivira's club championship over the weekend. Jackson played 4 rounds of golf in 2 days and drove from Lake Quivira to St Joseph both days. Jackson, you deserve a rest!!
First place in the Boys 12-13 age division was also decided by a playoff between Zak Butt (Overland Park, KS) and Tanner Owen (Parkville, MO). Zak beat Tanner on the first playoff hole to claim the first place trophy leaving second place for Tanner. Zak and Tanner had the lowest tournament scores over the weekend. Zak shot a 2-under par, 69, on Sunday and Tanner shot a 1-under par, 70. Tanner also had the low round of all players on Saturday with a 73 winning him Saturday medalist honors and a sleeve of his favorite golf balls. Great playing, Zak and Tanner!!!! Third and fourth places were decided by a scorecard playoff between Preston Fleenor (Mission Hills, KS) and Andrew Beckler (Topeka, KS). Preston's low back 9 score won him the third place trophy with Andrew taking home fourth. Brooks Brown (Salina, KS), one of our hole-in-one recipients, rounded out the trophies with fifth place.
John Quitno (Nevada, MO) shot consistent rounds of 79/77 to win first place in the Boys 10-11 age division. Ethan Packel (Leawood, KS), our second hole-in-one recipient, claimed the second place trophy, And, Parker Beal (Topeka, KS) improved Saturday's score by 16 strokes on Sunday to come from behind and take home the third place trophy.
